Air Cleaner Intake-outlet Duct Hose*replacement

I need to replace my intake Duct hose in my 1.8L Sonic LT. Is there any benefit in buying one for $80 vs. $12?

Has anyone had to replace theirs? Just don't want to spend more than I have to.

I bought one of the *cheap* ones off Amazon. They are a more stiff type of plastic material and likely will crack in time.
GM upgraded the new part sometime about 2014 with a softer rubber-like material that seems to now hold up better.

But the cheapy will probably last +2 years. Heck, you can buy 4 to 6 of the cheap ones vs 1 GM part. So. . . depends on what ya want to do.

Hard to say... the cheap ones online might be OK.

I bought one from cheapestgmparts.com for $40 or so. Then, I got a letter from GM about the problem. I sent in my receipt and GM sent me a check. Not sure if I have the newer part or not, thinking not. But, no problems and its been almost 3 years.

I also have another 2012 1.8L and I had this issue on that car, so I took it to the dealer with the letter and they fixed it.
