Hey fellow car enthusiasts,
I wanted to share my recent experience with an AliExpress blow-off valve that I purchased for my 2016 Sonic 1.4 RS. As an avid car lover, I was excited to give my ride a performance boost
Following the instructions meticulously, I successfully installed the new blow-off valve and took my car for a test drive. Initially, everything seemed promising, and I enjoyed the distinct turbo sounds that came from the new valve. However, after a few kilometers on the road, my excitement turned to concern as the check engine light unexpectedly illuminated.
Thinking it might have been a temporary glitch, I proceeded with caution and managed to reach my destination. To my dismay, the following day brought new challenges. Upon starting the car, I noticed erratic RPM fluctuations, an unfamiliar sound from the blow-off valve, and a noticeable loss of power, accompanied by a significant increase in fuel consumption.
Fearing that something might be amiss, I promptly visited a trusted mechanic who managed to clear the error codes (P1101) from the system. Unfortunately, my optimism was short-lived, as the check engine light reappeared shortly after driving a short distance. The frustration was real, but I remained determined to resolve the issue.
Deciding to give the AliExpress blow-off valve another chance, I embarked on a test drive. However, this time, the outcome was even more disheartening. The RPMs dropped to a worrisome level, causing the engine to stall, and a warning light with an exclamation mark illuminated on the dashboard. Left with no choice, I had to call for a tow truck to safely return home.
In my quest to troubleshoot, I uninstalled the aftermarket blow-off valve and reinstalled the original stock valve. Strangely, I still heard the same sound like a blowoff, even with the stock valve in place. This led me to speculate that there might have been a potential leak during the initial installation, possibly preventing me from truly experiencing the intended benefits of the blow-off valve.
Attached are photos and a video documenting the installation process, which I followed step-by-step from the YouTube guide (
). I'm reaching out to the community to share my experience and seek advice from those who may have encountered similar situations or have insights into resolving these issues.
Your input and guidance would be invaluable in helping me restore my car's performance and enjoy a trouble-free driving experience once again. Thank you for your time and support.
