Andrew GS's LED projector build

Andrew contacted me a short while ago about a LED projector retrofit. Soon after discussing detail, I noticed the components he was interested in using are from JW Speaker only 15 minutes up the road from my work. In fact, we regularly do business with them and have a great contact there. Normally each projector runs about $250, but I worked some magic and got 2 low beam/2 hi beams for a steal...

Brand new DEPO headlight are already split, waiting the new projectors.

This thread will show the progress through the build as it will hands down be one of the most sophisticated headlamps on a Sonic, PERIOD. They will have 4 axis of adjustment with the custom mounting brackets out of 5052 aluminum.

Having the privilege of obtaining the CAD data for each has helped immensely with the build so far!

I will also be burying XB halos behind the shrouds for an "Ironman" type of effect.

Stock reflector needed to be trimmed back. Threaded inserts were added, projectors mounted, now have 4 axis of adjustment.

This is why I would never attempt this myself. I have no idea what's going on right now. lol ..... I'm sure it'll look awesome though.

As you can see, these projectors are incredibly massive! I have some shrouds on order from TRS which will need to be trimmed to fit these huge projector lenses. Slight trimming on the low beam mounting bracket needed for the lens to sit properly.

Finally got a full set mounted over the weekend. The projector mounting wings were killing me! Had to move one of the adjusters to the other side to I could remove a portion of the mounting wing in order to even get the headlamp lens to sit down properly.

Getting the drivers side mounted this week with hopes of getting everything aimed over the weekend.

Got them both mounted and wired up last night. Testing them out after work.

Nothing is aimed whatsoever but the projectors work perfect. This will be such a clean install. No wiring harness or ballasts, completely plug n play. I have the 110mm halos on the way for 2 possible shroud options.

Did you integrate the relays for the DRL?

I just flicked the switch over to flip them on. I didn't actually check it with the car running. still TBD if I need to add in a relay or not. Going to do some testing against a pair of stock headlights over the weekend to get them positioned correctly.

I had a chance over the weekend to aim them. One of the hi-beams needs more allowance for adjustment but shouldn't be a problem.

I had to modify the shrouds I plan on using to fit the large lenses.

Received the 110mm xB Halos from The Retrofit Source Inc They should look great when all 4 are lit up.
