Annoying squeaking noise!

Anybody's Sonic making this awful noise? Happens when the A/C is turned on. I had a 2015 LTZ loaner car back in April and it made this noise constantly but more prevalent with the A/C on. Mine is starting to make the same noise but only when the A/C is on. I also notice it makes the noise when it's really hot out and the engine has really warmed up.

Sounds like when my dad's cruze had a leaky cam gear /sensor gasket it would make that sound at idle.

Yeah, it only makes the noise during idle. Not during acceleration/coasting at all.

ZOMG!!! I'm taking mine in Monday for that damm sound!!! I want to say it's just a belt.. but maybe a tensioner??? But it's killin me, I'm at 18k right now and just turned a year old... if I find out anything I'll let you know.. [emoji53]

I just crossed 21,000 miles after 4 months.... I bought her pre owned at 10,091 miles. The noise started at around 18,000

Hey, got some new news on the squeaking... right now they think its the front crank seal, pull the dipstick when its running and see if the noise stops, they are goin to replace mine and see if it fixes it. I showed them the vid and its exactly the same sound.. opcorn:

Well heres the FIX!! Its the front crank seal, and its a known issue and is covered under warranty.. took them maybe 1/2 day to fix, noise is gone!! :banana::banana::banana:

The other thing I found out myself which was the exact same noise with the exact same symptoms, I found that the right hand side where the intercooler interconnecting hose was rubbing and chafing up against the bottom panels just behind the wheel arc on the right hand side.

I'm having the same exact problem! I've taken to the dealer 2 times. They replaced the belt, and tensioner. But it's still doing it. It's going back next week!

I had the belt and tensioner replaced 2 weeks ago, but it didn't fix the noise. The same squeak as the one heard in the video is still there. It's driving me NUTS! The dealership told me today it's the crank seal. :fingers crossed: I hope this fixes it...I'm at 34,650 miles. I've been complaining about the squeak for the past 20,000 miles.

Pull the dipstick, if the noise stops, then it's the front main seal

mine was doing the same thing. front crank seal as mention above fixed it.

I was at 32k miles and had the crank seal replaced along with the a/c compressor... fixed the problem...

just had the Crank Seal replace and the noise is gone.

Noise recognition

I actually noticed the noise a month ago when washing the car. When mentioned the family member who drive the car thought nothing of it.
I guess that is why I get all the Car duties in the family.

Funny, mine just started this morning. Freaked me out! Dipstick trick was definitely the best diagnosis. 42k miles...

Ya, the dealership showed me that dipstick trick... if you put your finger over it with the engine running, you can feel the vacuum.

My car at dealer for THIRD time and again.... Unable to recreate issue. It happens almost every time I drive and pulling the dipstick makes it stop. It's getting worse and they're obviously NOT trying hard to recreate.... All it takes is starting the car., If that doesn't do drive a few miles with AC compressor on.4k left on bumper to bumper, which the tech went out of his way to point out. Then I pointed that this is covered under power train (if indeed it's the front seal issue). Then he admitted it is. But they have to recreate it. Every time I've driven the car in its been doing it so they know I'm not making it up. But they turn car off right away and can't recreate it after that. I drive my car for a living I can't be leaving it there all y the time while they bumble with it.

Edit: mines been happening for months and is getting worse. What are ramifications of driving it with a bad front seal? Oh and I'm getting pending p2227 and p2330 occasionally, which stops the turbo. Dunno if related. Always goes away next restart, code disappears, turbo works. Related?
