apparently your relay sucks. relays work between 6-18 volts. and very little amperage. so...your relay is dead or dying

Im not understanding which solution is the one i need. i have my hids installed lows and highs. each set has a relay installed on them. My drls are still not working during the day. I want to fix the problem and i want my DRLs to continue working like they are supposed to automatically. so what should i do add another relay to the low beams?

It depends on the relay. They'll usually require higher voltage to engage but can hold with lower voltage. Some may or may not engage with the 9vdc supplied on the DRL but many will hold after engagement much lower.
What needs to be done is use something like this;

Something like this will cut off the output if voltage falls below a set point. In short, when headlights are on and circuit is at roughly 12vdc then output is on. When headlights are off and circuit is on lower 9vdc DRL mode then output is off.
Please note that the above device will not work but similar devices are available for automotive use. Essentially a battery saver circuit. If voltage drops below X volts then output off....
Another option is to use a differential voltage sensing circuit. A differential voltage amplifier or voltage comparator. Use the difference between DRL voltage and battery voltage to control a relay. When the lights are on there should be 0VDC +/- .25 I'd guess between the light circuit and battery. 3-4vdc difference with lights off. There is probably an off the shelf project board that will do this and control a relay for the HID ballast.

My future plans, I want to get some LED strips (like on new Mercedes) and mold them into the bumper near the headlights (probably directly under, or wherever looks good) and use them as the DRL's. I think if I spend the time to find the right ones and hire someone to do a professional install it'll look fantastic.

They are very easy to install. They just use 3M adhesive so you can cut and stick to anything. But I wouldn't run on DRL wire. Not enough voltage. Need a good constant wire or one with enough voltage like the parking lights. How I would do it. Thats how I did it on my other car. Or run them to battery and run a switch inside of the car so you can turn on whenever. Wouldn't recommend on with DRLs but instead park. Just my opinion. Wouldn't really recommend putting under light tho. Maybe right under the hood lip above the lights so they shine done over headlights that looks good

You need your two ballasts which you can get in many different assortments such as digital or slim. And the right wattage from 35-55w
Then you need a heavy duty relay.
Keep in mind all of this is needed for just one beam
Either high beam or low beam which ever you chose or both. Therefore for both hi/lo HIDs you need to complete kits..
You can follow my build or message me for further info. Not going far in depth here.

I think I want 6000s for my highs and 5000s for my lows. I think.

Before. It is tied into the plug that plugs into the factory light plug
