Anyone want to see a crushed Sonic?

Stumbled on a listing on eBay for a wiper motor that was pulled from a crushed Sonic...

Might have been a test vehicle. I have seen perfectly good vehicles that were crushed for no reason other than being a test vehicle that was no longer needed.

Or maybe a pre production car. When I left the plant at the end of 2010 they already had a number of fully assembled cars inside. All were pre production test runs.

Schram sells a lot of parts that came off of retired GM show and test cars. They also get a lot of pre production stuff. I wonder if that place does too.

WHAT!?! Another reason not to move to California. Not that I really race or anything, but Mashoes road isn't known as the local drag strip for nothing.....

Seems a little overkill, really. Here in NC they auction your car off to the highest bidder and you lose your license for three years. And 12 points on your insurance...

EDIT: That's for "prearranged racing". For "willful racing", which would be from a stoplight or whatever, the car is not seized and you lose your license for one year.

It's a GM car. Could be a buyback or have been damaged in transit, though usually damaged cars are repaired or sold as-is. Unfortunately, GM requires these cars to be destroyed. I've seen pace cars and show cars crushed and shredded, as well as perfectly good pilot cars. Notice the auction lists the mileage as "4".

When I worked with Toyota/Scion, we had preproduction and beta vehicles as display cars. At the end of the car show model year, the cars were crushed, often with less than 100 miles on them.

Wouldnt put it past GM for that being either of those or one of the first few production cars to come off the line, most of them are used as test vehicles for the media then crushed

i think if insurance pays off on a stolen car then it is recovered the ins co whats it crushed to reduce insurance scams
