Awesome Tail Light Mod Idea

A few weeks ago I took a night time photo of the rear of my car with my new LED tail light bulbs and something happened that gave me the coolest idea.

At first I didn't want to share my idea because I wanted to be the first one with it! But then I decided otherwise just cause everyone on here are usually nice and sharing their selves.

So here it is. When I can afford the couple hundred I'm sure it will cost, I'm going to stop by my local Oracle dealer/installer and buy me some red SMD Halo's for those red circle reflectors in our tail lights.

And this is how it will look.

I would tred very carefully with this mod and do some research before tampering with your reflectors. If you live in the U.S., it's both Federal and State Law to have a certain number of reflectors on your vehicle, and violation can result in a hefty fine.

I would also look into your state's laws as well, because it can differ between states.

That would look pretty sweet . When the money comes in I'd like to put oracles for fog light s and maybe the headlights . BUt one can dream

I like the stock headlights of the Sonic. Only thing I would change is if there were any Euro taillights that came out for the sedan. Would like me sedan taillights to look cool like the hatchback taillights.

That's about the only thing the hatches over the sedans.

Soon my tail lights will be much cooler than the hatches. Harleys almost done and I'll have money that needs to get blown somewhere. Lol

Exactly my point. The sedan is superior in every way more then the hatchback excluding the tailights in my opinion. Glad somebody thinks the same as I do.

I wouldn't say superior, but its a better fit for me, and thats what matters to me.

I think the sedan is superior over the HB for me personally but think both cars are great and look great. The tail lights on the HB are nice, that style would look great on the Sedan. It would be as simple as matching the metalic grey and painting like some have done with plastidip though.

I was looking into doing halos for my headlights, and through a little research, found that the process isn't too easy. I'm assuming it would be the same or similar for tail lights, but the process includes putting ur lights in an oven to melt the glue seal, open the up, replace them, and glue them back. Something about that sketches me out a bit, so the only way I'm doing halos is if I can find new housings for my lights for cheap...

Check out Oracle Lights. They make custom to fit halos for all vehicles.

Look to see if there's a dealer/installer near you with their store locator.

They will do all the work for you and I believe they have a warranty. Might want to confirm that.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Went to their site, did a little research, even found a certified place not too far from me. Only thing that skeeved me was their video on how their process works, it's on their site. They literally cook your housing for a few minutes until the sealant melts. And I believe you're correct, they do have a lifetime warranty. Not bad for $200, especially if you're guaranteed a fix. Just still an odd procedure. If you go through with it please let us know

yeah you have to melt the glue so you can pull it apart. then heat it up again to reseal it. ill post all my findings here.

These regulations are typically not enforced at the consumer level. They are for manufacturers of factory and aftermarket automotive lighting. Although they have been used by law enforcement to issue "fix-it tickets" in cases of obvious violation (blacked-out lenses or blinding LED arrays).

i am thinking you are way off base here... all the time pick up truck on company vechicals have bed and lights removed....with aftermarket and yes the lights have to be DOT (technically) a small mod like that on the reverse light would never raise a ticket book.... and that if it removes the reflective part all together and there is no other red reflector on the rear....
