Backspacing (kinda important)

So, just a thought. It would be super helpful to have the maximum backspace clearance for the Sonic's front and rear fender wells posted in the 'dimensions' sticky.

Just in case you aren't familiar with the term, Backspacing is the distance from the mounting plate surface of a rim to it's inside lip. Lots of people talk offset, but backspacing is what will tell you if you're going to have rubbing issues on suspension or if you will need a spacer.

I might just make the time myself, since I need to rotate the tires anyway (and having the tires off will give me a chance to measure. But yeah, having a maximum stock backspacing measurement would go a long way to helping others fit wider tires.

Offset and Backspacing are just numbers.

Offset stays the same regardless of the rim width.

Backspacing changes when the rim width does.

If you "need" a Zero offset with a 6" wide rim, you will still need a Zero offset with an 8" wide rim to put a tire in the exact same spot.

But you would need 3.5" of BS on that 6" rim, while needing 4.5" of BS on an 8" rim to accomplish the same thing.

Every tire size would need a different backspace or offset to put the tire in the same spot in the wheel well.
