I thought the big three referred to battery, alternator, and ground. Do we have an aftermarket high output alternator available yet?
I actually got one made up, produces ~230 amps at 1300 rpm. I tried mechman alternators, ohio generators, dc power, and about 3 or 4 more companies and they won't make it for the sonic simply because our crankshaft pulley is too small. Even with an overdrive pulley it wouldn't produce enough amperage at idle to charge the battery, its actually in a negative state of draw. Luckily for me, I had a tune from Trifecta that bumped the idle to 900rpm and with that jump in rpm it was possible. I purchased the alternator from Singer Alternators, lifetime warranty, a good guy, he actually spent 2 months testing different things for me to see what was the best at idle and best charge curve. Anyways, i'll be throwing it on in the next 2 months or so, have to get everything for the system.
About the positive cable, I just traced it, goes from the alternator to the positive post on the battery, but on the back end , then goes to the battery, and then from the battery through the 80A fuse to the fuse block.
