Bluetooth audio from a cellphone - can it be done?

I've easily been able to connect and use my cellphone (Acer Liquid E) via bluetooth - works amazingly well, but is one able to access the audio stored on that same cellphone? I haven't been able to figure it out to date - will do some more fiddling around with it today. My 17 year old son (after reading the manual) figures that the cellphone will only work as a phone once paired - anyone else played around with this yet?

When they are paired, have you tried playing some audio using the phone's music app? I haven't tried it and may in the coming days if I remember.

I just bought a cheap 32GB thumbdrive and stored all my music on it. Plugs into the usb port and is hardly seen. Car HU always remembers where I left off, etc. Works pretty well except for the feature requests I outlined in another post.

Once you pair the device to the car, you should be able to activate a music playing app such as the built-in player, Winamp for Android or Pandora. If you can use the hands-free profile in the phone, chances are both the car and phone support A2DP advanced audio playback.

For me this is super important for several reasons. Since Navigation is not available from the factory, wanted to use a tablet/media player for media playback and navigation using the various versions of Car Home from the Android Market.

I'm not concerned though, most cars with bluetooth support audio streaming or will with a firmware update.

My car works fine with my iPhone paired to both the OnStar module (for phone) and the radio itself for streaming audio. Its two totally seperate pairing processes / devices.

That said I just use my sync cable to the USB port in the glove box. My car doesnt show any song/artist info when streaming over BT so that annoys me.
