Hi All,

First of all, I'm going to ask a question that has been asked before. I have gone thru all 55 pages of the Interior and ICE discussion, as well as other sections of the forum... so if the information is here, I'm not asking because I am too lazy to search.

I bought a 2012 Sonic LT. I can connect my phone via Bluetooth for calls, but not music streaming. [There is no menu option for Bluetooth (Music) ]. I have cruise control and other features of the Cruise/Connectivity package (The only thing I don't have is the USB/Aux plug in the glove compartment).

I have read many posts saying the music streaming was standard on the LT. Could a re-flash of my radio fix this, or is there truly a non-music LT model of radio?

You are right it only works with calls. I think it depends on the level of the audio package. My 2015 sonic does the same thing as yours and I have the basic audio package. I just run a cable form my cell phone to the aux in on the radio for music.

My 2013 can do calls, but also has an icon on the Mylink, does a 2012 have mylink?

I then can stream Pandora..

No MyLink in 2012.

I did see a post where one member got a Bluetooth update via OnStar, and got the music streaming to start working. I'd try that option, but in Canada the 2G network was decommissioned, so in order for me to get a 90 day free trial, I'd have to pay for an update to the OnStar system (Or get a free update if I pre-pay for a year of OnStar service)... neither of which will happen.

Not sure if the dealer can do a Bluetooth update if its part of the OnStar system.

What phone are you using? I have a 2012 LT as well, and almost exclusively use my phone to stream music via bluetooth. I bought it second hand, so I'm not sure of how it got to this point.

I have a BlackBerry Priv (Android). Its not the phone, as the option of adding music isn't in the menu anywhere [Only for hands free calling]. I was at the dealer for service, and asked them about it. Their "radio guys" said the music streaming is only on the "My Link Touch Screens". Although I know this not to be true, I wasn't about to pay for them to waste time and likely get no results.

I just bought a $15 Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the Aux port, and in the next day or so I'll be adding a USB plug into the slot beside the radio to keep it charged.

Is there no USB port in the top glove compartment? I guess whoever bought my car made to sure to get the extras. I can confirm that I have music streaming without a touch screen! Good solution though - thought I would have to do that when i bought the car

No, I don't have the USB in the glove compartment. Seems like the person who bought my car originally splurged for a bunch of updates, except for that one! LOL

Yeah, I use a Bluetooth reciever in the Aux port too...works fine. When you add a USB plug "into the slot beside the radio" could you post a picture? Is that the "storage bin" that's on both sides of the radio or do you mean the card slot thing below the radio maybe? I'd be interested to see what it looks like. Right now I have a USB adapter in the plug down next to the shifter. Thanks!
