I was wondering if the fuel cut strategy was modified. I would randomly reset the DIC on different parts of the trip to see where it leveled out on flat road cruise, hilly terrain and other bits.

It seemed the real gains came from the hilly areas where I was able to take advantage of the torque when climbing and what I thought was a modified fuel cut when coasting. When coasting down a hill the averages would climb back up a lot higher than before.

Didn't notice much gain on level ground, constant load cruise and didn't expect it there anyway. But that lean idle and lean cruise sound interesting. I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I've got another road trip to Miami in about two weeks and would be another good comparo. I've made that trip about 6 times in this Sonic and have some decent numbers to compare to.

Despite my heavy right foot, my mpg has improved by over 1 mpg. If I drive civil I expect a couple more mpg easy. More power and more efficient? Yes please!

My wife drives like a turtle and I withheld valuable information regarding an installed tune as a test subject. After several trips to work, her only comment was the sucking noise was a bit loud(MPFAB intake) for which I responded I opened up the intake. She did not notice any difference in drivability until I showed her what the heavy pedal will do now!

I will jump in my V-8 dodge when I want the rumble and hard torque but my sonic is so fun to drive now.

Yeah we pretty much tune them so it drives like stock until about 70% throttle input. Then the fun begins. Or as rodslinger put it, that's when Dr. Jekyll turns into Mr. Hyde.

Where we differ from other companies is right here. I don't sell a tune. I sell a tuning service. It's not MY tune. It's Hawkdsl's tune. You want a different throttle profile, you got it. Just shoot me an email about it so I remember.

My driving style aside, the BNR tune is worth the option. You will just giggle, and friends you take for rides will bow down before your feet and ask for forgiveness. 'Cause when they get out, they know they are not worthy.

Oh man...this is like advertising and good reviews all rolled into one.

Help us fearful members out here. As I am strapped for funds I should:

a.) Get the diablosport tune.
b.) Check the add BNR tune.
c.) I can flash back to stock if bringing it in to the dealer for any baffling codes/problems?

I just spoke to Diablosport and they still don't have an update for me. For those of you who may be in the same situation, all we can do is wait he said. There may be an update early next week but he couldn't say if it would be the right one.

Is your car a 2015? Just curious. Seems the few that are waiting in an update are 2015 models. Maybe they are trying to get all the calibrations in there at once instead of piecing together several different files.

I have a 2014. From what Diablo said, Chevy has a lot of different calibrations and they are updating weekly. The tech knew I was a little frustrated but there's nothing you can do. Just have to wait.

Ive been in the same boat for 10 days now.. and Rod has been super helpful walking me through every possible problem until I've realized. .. I just have to wait with the rest till the update.

Another week and things are looking great. Some history. I'm bad about buying and selling cars WAY too often. I had been getting that itch to ditch this Sonic and had been eyeballing a Fiesta ST locally. But Jerry's tune got me enjoy driving this car again and that itch went away. Thanks Jer... Money saved for now anyway.

Back to the tune. I am wrapping up a week vacation and spent most of the week doing local chores or short day activities with the kids. I must say that I've almost forgotten the car is tuned. And that is a GOOD thing. This thing is working perfectly. I'm extremely happy with the stock feel of it and how progressive the power delivery is.

I was reminded of how well it all works yesterday when taking my younger son to something he wanted to do in downtown Atl. Traffic on the connector can be erratic with speeds ranging from 40mph to 70mph. I just put it in manual mode to hold 4th which was perfect for this traffic. Right in the meat of the torque and plenty of legs on it to make the pass. I could seriously just point and shoot and carve out any hole in traffic I needed to be in.

Damn beautiful tune Jerry. Thanks!!!!!! Damn this car is fun.

Being another supporter of Jerry and his tune, here's my two cents. Just buy it. Don't look at anything else, don't think about, just whip out your credit card and dig deeper into that bottomless pit of a sonic because you're going to be wondering what it'll be like forever if you don't do it.

I have an auto trans so those of you with a manual trans must feel like a rocketship. Daily driving is just like stock. But if you have a boost gauge installed, you'll see Jerry's tune is like pay per view, boost on demand! Just a tap on the pedal and you'll kick in 5-9 lbs of boost no problem. You can't even change your radio station faster. The first three gears are fun, but fourth is up there, at least I think I was in 4th, that's where she hit the drinking age on the boost gauge. Once you let off and cruise on the freeway, you can hold 1-3 lbs or none just like stock. But it's just different. The throttle is way more responsive, climbing a hill is no issue, you just have to decide how much oxygen you want to breathe passing people. If you are sharing your car with your wife or significant other, they won't even tell the difference until they stomp it.

There is only one problem with this whole setup. Your gas gauge seems to malfunction a lot and tends to drop more than usual. But when your other car is a hummer H2, a Chevy Sonic is worth every drop of premium gas.

I'll add my 2 cents as I just got it up and running this week as well. Take note, once you get your Diablo running and get Jerry the info he needs, he gets back to you with your custom tune FAST, in my case I sent him the info in the afternoon and by the early evening it arrived in my mailbox before sunset. That's customer service people, take that along with the fact that he's active in this thread, answers ALL of his questions and emails from his patrons and constantly striving to squeeze that little bit more out of the tunes and you have to appreciate the honest dedication of the guy.

Back to the tune. Ran the Diablo 93 canned tune for a bit in the time between getting the unit up and running and Jerry's custom. It did feel different, a little more punch and the intake was breathing a bit heaver then I've been accustomed to. I definitely felt the difference. But then i loaded up the custom tune and all bets were off. I'm the manual transmission in the pack and let me tell you, this thing PUSHES you back in your seat if you approach 4k rpms, just rockets so noticeably it's amazing. Anything less than that and you're driving your old, from the dealer, sonic like you always have.

It's there when you want/need it, asleep like a dragon waiting to awaken when you don't, you decide when you want to let the beast loose.

On a side note. Loaded up the canned MPG Diablo tune for a trip down to my beach house and back and with mostly highway driving with medium traffic i pulled into home after 100+ miles with 48 mpg which is way more than I ever have before. I was really trying to stretch it though and drove like an old man, still.. wow.

If you've got a Sonic, and you got it to be 'fun' then you need this.

My current Trifecta tune will "kick" in about 2500. Are you really saying you have to rev it up to 4000 to make more power than stock? Somehow I doubt it.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a BNR tune, but I spend most of my time at 1500-3500 RPM.
