Well looks like this is one mod that will have to wait. Nothing wrong with them I'm looking for extra cash for an engagement ring. I think it's about time 5 years of living together has proven to me we will work out just fine.

Not to thread-jack, but I have a suggestion that may help with the ring quest.opcorn:

When I was engagement ring hunting, I was searching all these expensive big rock rings and was expecting to spend $2000+. Then I remembered how my sweetheart loved unique, one of a kind objects.

I turned my focus to consignment shops and looked for antique "used" rings.

I found a 1920's platinum ring with a Victorian style design. The diamond wasnt huge, but the hand crafting on the ring was mind blowing. It was $900, but I talked them down to $795 out the door.

After I gave it to her, she literally thanked me for not trying to get her a ring that just had some big old diamond sticking out of a boring plain ring.

In fact she loved it so much that we went the same route when we bought our wedding bands and ended up with some 1930's platinum rings for under $700 each.

Every woman is different, and this may not be right for yours, but I just thought I'd mention it, because it was a win win. Saved a bunch of money and got points for being romantic.

I appreciate your posting, It's taken me a long time to find something that I think she would really like. I've decided on having a ring designed and made for her. it's costing a little more then I had budgeted (hence the sale) but in the end I think it's worth it. besides she only gets one

Keep in mind also, some girls (like my wife) care more about clarity than size. Her friend had a ring very similar to hers but the diamond was all yellowish where as my wife's had zero color. It's gorgeous

Back to the one ring though, all women at some poi t will want an upgrade. Whether its 10 years or 25 years away. So keep it big enough but not a huge 2 carat or anything

That's the best advice I have. Happily married to my best friend for two years
