BP 93 vs. Shell 93

I'd like to hear any facts and/or speculation about which is better for our Sonic's, Shell's 93 Octane versus BP's 93 Octane.

I have both near where I fill up and have been using BP for a while now, but admittedly out of convenience and nothing else.

Let the debate begin!

hmmmm only so many refineries, and they add stuff there which goes to all...difference comes down to what additives each adds at their dispersal point....and that's mainly just detergents...

I'd say none.. unless one achieves 93 with Ethanol and the other doesn't... I run 91 E091 and love it!

Honestly, what brought this to my mind was the discussion elsewhere about top tier fuel vs non and how it's a different characteristic to just octane grade.

I think they're both good. While living in Indiana, BP's whitting refinery supplies/makes many of its competitors product. Funny to see a different brand tanker other than Amoco('Murica!) filling up at the BP teat.

I think the only way to tell difference or benefits of using one over the other would be to crack open the engine after xx,xxx miles and see what benefits V-powah or invigorate has.

Both Shell and BP are Top Tier certified, so their additive packages both meet high standards.

93 octane is 93 octane, so they both produce the same performance capabilities.

I would go with the least expensive or most convenient.

I was wondering which one is best myself. I've been using BP because on my way to work BP is on the right while Shell is on the left. When I need gas I usually fill up on my way into work so BP has been what I've picked.

I think octane is the biggest factor in engine performance, but % ethanol is the biggest factor in MPG's

i'll take pure gas any day... leave the ethanol for whiskey! Or use something which isn't needed to feed people, like switchgrass....

not sure why, but my 1.4 RS will run better on shell.(according to the butt dyno)

so i stick to it, if shell isn't available then its BP.

When I bought my car the sales men told me 89 was fine and have since. Should I just and can switch to 93
