Brake and throttle servo noise?

ok so I was in the sonic this morning with it not running and the windows down getting ready for school when i accidentally hit the brake instead of the clutch. But to my surprise i heard a electronic noise, so being curious i did it again with the same result. so i decided to try that with all of the pedals.

clutch= no sound
brake= sounds like a servo is moving?
gas= makes a sound like the brake but not as loud

so i was just wondering if this was normal or if anyone else is hearing the same thing.

and i should add i have a trifecta tune as well... dont know if that effects it.

Mine does the same thing. I think it is the brake distribution system. You will hear it when the hill hold is working too. I think it is normal.

It's your fuel pump, mine does it as well. It is just priming the system before starting, when you turn your car on you will hear it and if you sit it will turn it off so that it is not pushing fuel with no where to go and the brake peddle reactivates it since most of us probably make sure the car can't go anywhere when we start it.

I work in the retail automotive industry, and I own a Chevy Sonic HB. I was getting a noise in my front brakes. It turned out to be the anti-rattle clips; Chevy does not lubricate them on installation.

If you know a good mechanic who will do this for you, it is simply a matter of applying the correct lubricant to the anti-rattle clips. My noise disappeared once one of the mechanics in my shop suggested and performed this.

There are many electrically actuated systems on the Sonic. If it is, indeed, servo noise that is loud enough to be heard during operation of the vehicle, I would be concerned as this - to me - would indicated abnormal function.

So your anti-rattle clips were rattling? Thanks for the heads up. When/what mileage did you start to notice it? Mine had almost 700 miles on it from the week and a half I drove it before deploying.

They weren't rattling so much as they were making a metal-to-metal rubbing noise while actuating the brakes while the wheels were turning. If the wheels weren't turning the noise was not heard. If I maintained a constant pressure, the noise was not heard.

I am not saying that this would be the source of anyone's noise; rather, I am suggesting to check this as it may be confused with "servo noise."

I noticed it on the first day I drove with the windows opened.
