Does anyone know which files and/or folders are the BringGo app in the MyLink radio? I can then copy them and see it it will fix the downgraded version that the Chevrolet key chime safety recall install messed up on MyLink radio. I had version1.3 before the recall, now 1.2 after. And I know there is at least a 1.4 version out there. If anyone can tell me what to copy over, I will make a zip file of them for anyone else to use, who had the same issue I encountered. Thanks!
ChicksHateMe: yes that ONE feature is a nice bonus, but of course like you, I don't really need it. I'm curious: does it actually tell you where on the roads the cops are parked?
Sorry to hear you get easily distracted? Guess I might be different than you, then. I am now 61, been racing sports cars in SCCA since 1974, some time ago when working out in the field used to have to eat while driving ( steering with my knees while a burger in one hand, a coke in the other, lol), and 2 years ago survived my 2014 Fiesta ST being totalled by a hit & run driver screaming across 3 lanes to make an exit ramp and slamming into the front left of my car even while I swerved to avoid the idiot, and it was only my "racing reflexes" which helped me survive not flipping over, or impaled on one of two guard rails, or falling off a ledge. I am a firm believer of learning excellent driving skills from racing, and I had been an instructor for many years with various car clubs. Try autocross racing folks! It's cheap, safe, and FUN!Yeah, you have to at least check it out. Because all the users are the ones that actually supply the info real-time, it's us who tell where the cops are parked, and as you approach, it gives the option to select something like whether they are still there or not. Same with cars parked on shoulders of the road and other hazards.
I used it bringing my grand kids to the Boston Aquarium a week or so ago. I had in my mind I wanted to go one route, that I use to ALWAYS take when I was in the Coast Guard stationed in Boston, but Waze kept re-calculating and taking me north of the route. So, my daughter tries her Apple, and it did the same things. We compared the apps side by side and they did basically the same thing. Turns out, The Mass pike, a toll road, was moving at 14 MPH, so Waze and her app were smart enough to tell us "go this way instead". I really wanted to travel my old route, to see how things had changed over about 40 years, but Not at 14 MPH.
I going to go and try to load Bringgo again now, after this text, just for the heck of it.
I was Pro Bringgo at first, compared to things like physical nav systems or even google maps, I really liked it, and how it was basically "built in" to the Sonic. But I was glad I learned about, and tried waze. I think having the two things, the phone and the Mylink working, makes it less attention needy than having to switch between all of it on just the Mylink Radio. No matter how quick I can do things, it still does distract a bit from the driving. I feel with both, that's reduced.
I haven't been in an accident that was my fault in over 40 years *knocks on wood*, but my worst fear has ALWAYS been something "hot" distracting me, and then me hitting something from loss of concentration. When I lived at the beach, I came so close, so many times lol. Playing with these devices and being distracted is a close 2nd on my fear list.
Yeah, give waze a try at least. It's free. I'd like to hear what you think.
Good luck!
