Yes, this is the correct pn. Mine broke and the dealership wanted to charge me to replace the whole shifter. I showed them this pn and they said I was right. Just saved me $350.

It sucks I was mad when mine broke. You can fix it yourself, just buy the button for $14 iirc. I would fix it immediately because I read the horror stories of people not being able to shift out of park after awhile. Mine just cracked at first then it kept getting worse. Good luck

my shifter button was already broken, started with a hairline crack...then big crack...until i found myself playing with it while driving then it fell out. however, only the silver coating was removed, the button itself is left with a plastic material. overall my shifter button is still there except for the uneven silver surface that fell off.

We just got our sonic, so no issues yet with that, but was looking and found this.

Just remember reading about this and thinking maybe this will help someone, we have warranty until 75K so we are covered for a while, but I know others aren't as fortunate.

i dont think we can use that (the one on the video) on our sonic. i watched it and a simple push of the shifter button and pull upwards of the whole knob removed the whole knob...
i didn't see it clearly on the video but the sonic's knob has a +/- on the side right? which controls the transmission while on "M" mode. so i think it is not as easy as that to remove it.

Yes you are right. Our 2016 has that at least, if they have not redesigned since 2011 or 2012 the others probably have that too.

I was having this problem up until 5 min ago. Took the shifter apart. found what was rubbing on the button. A thin piece of material at the back of the button housing took a razor and cut 1mm into it and removed it and works like butter. Interesting enough didn't break any tabs or scratch anything like I thought I was going to do lol.
I see people going to extremes cutting chunks thinking that was overkill when all you have to do it look at the button itself and see what was rubbing and cut little bits off till it's smooth. But that's my experience.
