budget vs full tune hp on stock car?

The safety of the tune is the same as the tunes are both designed with safety in mind, not power. A lot more power could be had by a tune if the safety aspect weren't the primary focus of Vince.

In my mind, the full tune is safer because you have data logging ability to make sure the tune is right where it should be for your vehicle.

In theory you should be able to get slightly more power, but slightly worse gas mileage, running 10% ethanol vs straight 93.

Interesting, I thought I would be the other way around. Pure 93 = more gas = more power.

One thing adding ethanol to gas does is decrease the anti-knock (octane) rating that the other 90% of the gas needs. The ethanol part has an octane rating of 113, which means the gas part only needs to be about 91 in order for the blend to be 93. It also raises the amount of fuel needed to reach stoichiometric balance, so you burn more fuel for the same amount of power. E10 doesn't allow you to make a noticeably greater amount of power because it doesn't raise the octane rating, but E85 does.

so the budget tune should be a little safer for the engine with the lower boost pressures right? im going to order the budget tune and run 91-93 in it. I wont be adding any other mods for a while, so the budget tune should be fine.

I run the Budget tune in my '13 RS, no other mods, and use 91 octane. Runs great. You'll be fine with the Budget tune.

got the budget tune installed today thanks to the guys that went down to ss2000slp's to get the rs steering done on their car. it is an animal when the boost kicks in! it doesn't feel like an econobox, it feels more like a sports car. it didn't hurt my mpg yet either. I would highly recommend the budget tune if you are looking to get more out of your car.

Yeah, the tunes don't really hurt your gas mileage unless you have trouble resisting the urge to put your foot down. It's like picking a scab. You know you shouldn't but we all do it once in a while anyway.
