You need to find a reputable Tuner and hit the dyno. You wont be doing your Sonic justice with a Canned Tune. Absolutely nothing against the Trifecta tune's but one on one with a tuner and getting everything you can out of your car which is unique too all other Sonic's is the way too go.

I agree completely, cant beat an in person tune done by someone who knows what they're doing then put it on the dyno for a few pulls. Period.

Trifecta's premium tune gives you essentially that. Budget tune is their canned tune.

Datalogging and emailing tunes is a LOT better than a pure canned one, but there is still some left to be desired (especially if you dont have a wideband O2 on your vehicle that gets included in every log).

Not applicable to most Sonic's yet, but with highly modified vehicles it can take a lot of fine-tuning for someone's individual setup to get it right. This can take a LOT of time emailing back and forth whereas in person it could be dialed in much quicker. Ask me how I know...

I suspect heavily modded Sonic owners will gravitate to dyno operators who also tune. (Is that an oxymoron?)

But as almost anyone who has used a dyno operator, whether to tune or tweak a tune or just to determine what is actually going on) time and money are factors. Sure you may have a great dyno operator a few blocks away, but if he is booked to the middle of the month after next and is charging $100 per two pulls fine tuning not withstanding, how many members of SOF can afford to go that route? I know I can't, and I have used local dyno operaters to assess what I have accomplished on previous (before Sonic) builds.

Is a dyno tune the best of all possible worlds? Most likely.

Is a dyno tune the order of the day for a modified Corvette ZR1 or a Mustand GT 500? No doubt.

Is a dyno tune indicated for a modifid Sonic RS? I truly doubt it.

Tri/Vince can do a live dyno tune upon request and if you have a way to relay a wideband O2 scope then you can have your cake and eat it too.

Yea I know, it would be nice to be able to have the WBO2 feed into the Trifecta cable. But, Im not surprised because it costs extra $$ to have external inputs on a cable. You cant even do it with EFILive's AutoCal, have to buy an EFILive FlashScan V2 or HPTuners MPVI Pro to do it. Can you take an external WBO2 feed and compare it to a log? Sure, just takes more time and effort to overlay the 2 data sources.

How much extra does Vince charge for a live dyno tune? Im betting it's not included in the price of a normal tune, but I dont actually know.

I am not 100% certain of this but think that Vince will do it free of charge on his end, BUT the dyno time will cost money... Unless you have a hook up. Vince just needs to notified before hand and a schedule set up so he can be available.

I would give it the flip of a coin as to who would win in a dyno shoot out.Trifecta and Vtuner have tuned a lot of 1.4T engines.And a number of them in person.They know what works good from there own dyno testing.There data logged 93 octane tunes run real well

All very true! What you want and need does depend on how much money you have, whether you have a trusted Tuner that will give you the time of day and a good deal, and mostly whether you are willing to risk your motor for an all out dyno tune if that is what you are looking for. Sooooo many cars go POP on the dyno because of course everyone is looking for big numbers which means you better hope she can handle what you are throwing at it with a maxed tune. Some Tuners are more aggresive than others so you do run a risk in doing so...

Some one just reported on the cruze forum they just tuned there 1.4 with the bullydog.The reported increase was 40hp and 40lb TQ. That must be what bullydogs numbers are for a increase on 93 octane
