Carbon fiber hood issue..

I am interested in buying a carbon fiber hood for the Sonic. Does anyone know if having a carbon fiber hood actually helps the performance of the car? Is there a noticeable difference in weight?

It weighs less and depending on what you get it will help control underhood temps. I would assume that the under hood temp reduction is more of a benefit than the reduction in weight.

yes its a noticeable difference in weight. On my ss, the factory hood weighed about 50 pounds, whereas the carbon fiber hood was only 12 pounds. also second what mitdr said about under hood temps as well, but both reduced weight and reduced under hood temps help with increased performance.

The Seibon vented hood weighed about 14lbs and the oem about 30lbs.
