Catalytic Converter Issue

Hello! We own a 2014 Sonic that was purchased with 90K miles on it. So far the car has been sound except for one issue. We have owned the car for about a year and a half and the catalytic converter has gone bad three times. We contact Chevy about it and was told there had been a recall on it with the computer that regulated the temperature which caused the catalytic converter to fail but ours had already been recalibrated. The dealership replaced it for free the first two times but now that it has gone bad again I do not believe they will. Anyone else have this issue and found a solution?

Not sure if you're still active considering the date of your post. How was the catalytic converter issue resolved? I am getting P0420 Catalytic efficiency below threshold. I will check recalls if my 2015 Sonic LTZ is included.

I put a spacer between the O2 sensor and converter to fool the computer and make the P0420 code go away. It was an aftermarket converter and kept making the light go on.

To fix from a shop count in like 3,000 with the 1.8. I think we had that code and spent like 2,000+ to get the exhaust manifold etc swapped and it didn’t resolve and they were going to need to put a cat on for 900. But the car runs fine and we don’t have emissions testing here so I’ve considered leaving it that way tbh.
