Changing my order, don't like the Orange

Today I drove 90 miles round trip to a dealer that had a Sonic 2LT in Inferno Orange. I just do not like the Inferno Orange. As I said before, from the pictures Chevy realeased over the summer, it looked like the orange was the copper "burnt" orange that they called Sunburst Orange on the HHR and Cobalt.

Back at my local dealer, I spoke to my salesman and the guy who orders the cars for the dealership. I brought my laptop to show them the pics I was going by, a couple other salesman walked over and they agreed that the pictures looked like Sunburst Orange, not the Inferno Orange.

So my options are limited. According to gmconnects.com, the car is built:
09/16/2011 - (4B00) Your car is bayed and is waiting for transportation by truck, rail or transfer to vendor

I asked the order guy if they could swap the car for a Silver car with the same trim level and options before it gets loaded to ship from the factory. He said they can't do that. So unfortunately, it will get delivered and the salesman has to call around other dealers and try to trade it once they come in...
Otherwise I can start the whole order process again

That blows. Personally, I love the orange and am not a fan of sunburst. Good luck sorting it out.

Yeah, you have to see it to decide if you like it. As someone else noted, Camaros come in Inferno Orange, my local dealer actually had one, but I still drove out to another dealer to see the color on the Sonic.

I wish pics, like the link below, had been posted a month ago when I could have still changed my order, maybe I would have realized something was different...

I feel like a real jerk for putting my salesman thru this. Someone may say, "you ordered the Orange, just deal with it!" But I just can't get over the brightness of the reddish orange. I was expecting the more understated copper metallic of the Sunburst Orange.

Yes, it has some metallic in the paint, but it's much less noticable than in the Sunburst Orange.

Well, today I got my first chance to see not only a hatchback, but an Inferno Orange one no less! You know what, we liked it! Even though it's way different that I expected, I'm not dissappointed. It's more of a blood-red orange really. Now that I think of it, it reminds me of something you might see on a VW Beetle, which I don't mind at all.

The only downside to my viewing is that one, it's was an LT and not an LTZ, which is what we plan on getting, and two, it was sold and we couldn't drive it. They did let us sit in it for a while though and look it over without pestering us. I've had the same PT Cruiser for 7.5 years, so anything different is going to take some getting used to, but overall I thought it was pretty nice inside, and I'm thinking the LTZ will be even nicer.

So far so good!

I have to say I thought of the orange also but then thinking back to the 60's & 70's when Chrysler had cars in orange and lime green and yellow. There in style for a couple years but then yuk.....So I ordered mine in Black which is always in style....But you know what that's why they make them in different colors we all like different things.So go with your heart and who cares what others like .....

I was debating between the orange and black, but something just looks "right" about the orange hatchback.

However, if the black would have been metallic (A-la Z-spec concept), probably would have been an even tougher decision

After seeing them both in person, I think the hatchback looks much better than the sedan. It's not as photogenic though.

I'm going with the sedan only because my last two cars have been hatches: VW GTi and my current WRX. I also like the look of this sedan over the hatch.

Ya I'm with ya on this one. I also have a Malibu LTZ and the sonic sedan looks like mini me or a baby Malibu which I love the look of....just my taste and thats why the make both styles

Saw my second Inferno orange today, this time an LTZ Sedan. I like it more every time I see it. This was also the first one I've seen with a sunroof, pretty sharp!
