Chevy Sonic Claws Its Way To Hollywood!

Tonight was a momentous night in downtown Hollywood, California as a Chevy Sonic descended onto the side of Roosevelt Hotel for another Sonic first - the world's largest iteration of the arcade favorite claw game. That's right, the world's largest. Go ahead and call Mr. Guinness himself, this is as legit as it gets!

But what series of events brought us to today? Well since Sonic is the car of firsts, it has to do things no other car dare do. Sometimes being first means that you need to be the first car to jump out of a plane in the middle of the desert. Other times it means bungee jumping off a stack of shipping containers and dipping your nose into a kiddie pool. That brings us today. And today Sonic decided that a first it needed to try was to make itself a prize for a giant metal claw to grab and whisk it away to a new home.

All in all, this event was pretty insane. I know, of course we would say it was the bee's knees and so forth, but really, when you see 16 projectors display a 90 foot version of the classic claw arcade game that you can actually interact with via a giant arcade stick setup in the middle of Hollywood blvd, well it's rather impressive.

If you want to check out this first for yourself, Sonic will be giving passerbys the opportunity to win a brand new Sonic and a slew of other prizes on Saturday night as well. The location is the Roosevelt hotel which is right across the street from Grauman's Chinese Theatre in downtown Hollywood. The game starts at 7:30pm so when you're driving by and see the giant arcade game on the side of a hotel, that's when you know you're in the right spot.

Great marketing strategy. Gm is definitely stepping up their game for the Sonic.

This approach doesn't appeal to me at all- smacks of "if you can't sell it on its merits. slather it in sex or gimmicks". I'd be a lot more impressed with ads that demonstrate the car's better-than-the-competition features. Showing it kicking ass on an autocross course would impress me a lot more than showing it being tossed out of the back of an airplane, bungee jumping, or engaged in a duel-to-the-death with a robot tyrannasaurus.

I dig it but 2>4 has a really good point I am planning a trip to lime rock this summer season to try her out on a auto cross course or two . I think that would Impress me more than the gimmicks . But GM is trying to get more of the 18-25 market and I hate to say it but bling and flash are aimed for them . Besides If Chevy does not fix the cheap ass stereo They will miss that mark by a mile . Bumping stereo is all so part of that demographic . Personally don't care about a stereo and live for pure performance I am a little bias .
