Chevy Sonic Rivals and Competition

The upcoming Hyundai Veloster is the only other car vying for my attention right now.
Hyundai rarely makes cars that are really fun to drive though. The Gen Coupe is good, but aside from maybe the Elantra GT Touring, nothing in their lineup is really fun to toss into the corners. I will be test driving the Veloster though. Supposedly there's a turbo version of it on the way too, but who knows when (and for how much)

i think its the only one outside of all the cars listed already that i looked at in this price range. I scrapped the 2011 idea though when i heard the 2012 is suppose to be 40+mpg and be in the 150 hp range. As long as your not shooting for the touring version the price is close. Then i heard about the sonic and flushed the idea of a 2012 mazda.. haha.

Veloster will be interesting to see how it does in the market. Will either be an overwhelming success or may end up in the same junk yard as the Pontiac Aztek

A friend of mine up near NY just saw 2 of them on the road- he said they did not look all that great in person. Also it appears that they will cost a good bit more than the Sonic- Sonic pricing starts in the $14k range and will probably top out at around $18k, Veloster pricing is rumored to start in the mid-17s (non-turbo, turbo will probably be over $20k)
The Sonic is now the clear front runner for me.

Sonic should be released a few months earlier I would think. Chevy has said when the Sonic will come out but Velosters date is still up in the air, best guess is sometime in Fall 2011
