Constrained Supply Of Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat Delaying Chevy Sonic Orders
Like a flat tire on a Monday morning or a set of flashing police lights in the rearview, limited or insubstantial supply of parts and components for vehicle production is an unwanted reality of the auto world. As such, we just received word that the Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat color for the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic — production of which is just now commencing at Orion Township — will not be available for some time due to suppl y constraints.
According to sources, the metallic color will be unavailable for about four weeks (as of this writing) — and Sonics ordered in the crimson color will be placed in a queue and be filled as availability allows.
At this point, orders placed today for Sonics covered in the Crystal Red Metallic hue will be delivered in the October timeframe and currently hold the “Priority 1″ manufacturing status, placing the vehicles first on the production line as the color becomes available. For comparison, general public release for Chevy’s all-new Gamma II-based Sonic sub-compact is due in September 2011.
This comes hot on the heels of Chevy releasing RPO codes for the Sonic last week and our exclusive report that the yet-unnamed blue color will make its way to the Sonic later in 2012. Be sure to keep this in mind when ordering your Fiesta and Fit fighter when you’re at your local Chevy dealer.
