Hello, I have a 2014 Sonic 1.8 with 77k miles. I recently replaced the water pump as well as a new radiator fan, both OEM parts. The water pump was leaking fairly badly and the radiator fan quit working altogether. Now I am leak free and have what I believe is a properly functioning radiator fan. This leads to my first question.
The radiator fan is always on. It doesn't matter if the car is cold, if the AC is on or off, once the vehicle starts the fan will kick on. It seems to always been running on a lower speed. Once I turn the vehicle off the fan turns off. Is this normal?
My second question is regarding coolant temp. I drove around city and highway with a scan tool plugged in watching the coolant temp reading. It seems as though the vehicle is always hovering around 85c-92c (185f - 198f) ECT reading. I live in Arizona where this time of year it is fairly hot. I read these vehicle typically run at 220f yet I have never seen mine get this high in coolant temp.
Any info is much appreciated.
