The cooling fan on my sonic goes on at 108 degrees celcius. about 225 farenheit. Can anyone confirm if their's goes on about the same temp. I think my low speed is not working.
today i did a test drive with a obd live data temp output on my sonic 2012 1.8 - temp spread was from 217F to 225F for a 1/2 hour test run - cooling fan never came on - guys on utube are telling us these sonics are programed to run at higher temps - my other cars cycle from 185F to 188F consistently - the red high temp warning indicator has never come on - they have a high threshold - when they come on for too long your already in trouble - it may be too late so my obd scanner is now plugged in permantlyThe cooling fan on my sonic goes on at 108 degrees celcius. about 225 farenheit. Thanks for posting your temp. Looks like the cooling system on these engines tries to keep temp at 225 or just below. My valve cover gasket is leaking slightly. I bet with high temp comes potential oil leaks especially at gaskets. I am considering replacing the gasket soon. On a side note, I wonder if anyone has looked into how frequently their ac compressor cycles (mine is on for about 7 sec and off about 10 sec then repeats when cabin fan speed is at 2). This may be normal or not but I would like someone else to confirm if possible. If it is not normal, then I need to get it checked out before the compressor goes.today i did a test drive with a obd live data temp output on my sonic 2012 1.8 - temp spread was from 217F to 225F for a 1/2 hour test run - cooling fan never came on - guys on utube are telling us these sonics are programed to run at higher temps - my other cars cycle from 185F to 188F consistently - the red high temp warning indicator has never come on - they have a high threshold - when they come on for too long your already in trouble - it may be too late so my obd scanner is now plugged in permantly
J - also about your ac cycling issue i cant comment since i dont use ac in my cars up here in north western vermont - on older cars the ac fails so i just disconnect the compressor belt and save a little powerThanks for posting your temp.
