crash alert trim idea

My knowledge of electronics is limited but do know a little, here's a thought I have and wanted to run it by you guys and see if it would be possible,

the LCD screen in the crash assist warning trim piece is receiving a signal from the BCM now if you could send a different signal to it like a digital temp or some other signal, not sure if the read out is a pre or printed LCD display but sounds like a plausible idea, or get a read out the same size and retro fit it in the trim piece, also will the trim fit early models,

From the pictures it looks like all the symbols are only for crash deterrent system. I haven't seen one in person yet though. If its dot matrix LCD then maybe.
