Cruise switch broke. Really??

Well, the up/down CC switch broke in my car tonight. Jammed in to the (+) mode!

Car was accelerating until I had the presence of mind to shut off the cruise control.

Switch was $25 on Amazon. Now I get to figure out how to change it. Grrr.

3 year old cars shouldn't break like this.

disconnect positive terminal for about 15 mins before playing with airbag.. I'm assuming the airbag will have to come off to pop the surround to the cruise off....

disconnect it regardless though...

Yep that's correct:
Disconnect battery cable for 15 minutes
Use a small screwdriver to stick into the holes on the back of the wheel to release the airbag, one on each side.
Unplug the airbag and set aside.
From there you can pull off the buttons and trim around the wheel (Just pressure fit) and swap buttons, then put it together in reverse.

Well, I tried for an hour and a half to remove the steering wheel air bag. Watched a couple YouTube videos, too. I can not "feel" that spring wire that needs to move to release the air bag from the steering wheel. Tried several different tools, no luck.

I can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Do I need screwdrivers in both holes at once?

Ok, I think I screwed it up. I got one side to pop, but the other side won't. I think I broke that side. Off to the dealer. Time to make up a lie.

Mine broke a few weeks ago. I never use cruise control and was not when the button popped loose.

Just quoting this ^. I'm not saying I'm Lilly white.... I've made up a few good ones to help my own cause too, but every once in a while karma gets even with me.
