CTS and XTS compete with each other???

I was looking at some of the info on the new CRS which looks to be a very good offering from GM but with competitors such as the 5 series and e class being listed and the same for XTS wouldn't that make them competitors aswell or prone to cross shopping

I think the XTS leans more towards the less sporty side of high end luxury vs the CTS being a luxury sport, longer wheel base and shorter over all length and the availabe CTS V.

By the way, the 2013 CTS looks pretty slick.

I suppose but they're still close in target markets I think the styling is great though I wish they let the 2 led runners connect I think it looks better than the 5 series and refreshed or new e class

They're not that identical. The comparison between the Sonic and Cruze would be close. The XTS is the larger comfort vehicle and the CTS is the luxury sports car. While there is sufficient backseat room in the CTS, the XTS provides for much space. The ATS is their small sedan, CTS is midsized, XTS is fullsize.

Primarily, yes. Both have optional AWD.
