Custom slp powerflo install on 1.4 turbo

I had already done some custom exhaust work on my car but decided using part of the slp cat back system could save me a lot of headaches.
FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW IT WILL BOLT DIRECTLY TO OEM 1.4 EXHAUST SYSTEM. The only issue being there is two bottle necks in the system. The stock secondary cat has a reduction to 1.75 inches just before the flange. The other actually and sadly being the SLP system. The inside of the resonator is only 2 inch not 2.5. therefore the system is not a true 2.5 cat back.

Here are some pics of the custom stuff and you can see where the slp system starts.
My custom stuff is remove secondary converter install 2.5 flange and run 2.5 inch piping up to the next exhaust hanger. I am actually waiting for the offroad test pipe from ddm works and plan to use that in place of my custom stuff and making it a true bolt in and go system for the turbo car. I probably wont be using the resonator from SLP. Probably subbing it out with just bolting in a 2.5 inch replacement pipe.

If I had a tip like that I would polish it all the time. Where are the pics of the said "custom parts"?! It's kind of like saying "I fit 20's on my Sonic!" and then not posting pics....

Look closer at pics that were posted with it and you can see where custom meets SLP and if you cant see them as you wish to see them just ask nicely to see more pics. DONT do be rude or coy you wouldnt have found out unless you footed the 500 plus dollars out just to find out. There is no need for the sarcasm in that manner. i am a joker as much as the next guy but your approach is not exactly appropriate. I enjoyed the tip joke but not the put down on my post.

IF you use the whole system it will bolt up to the stock exhaust with no custom work. I DID NOT USE ALL OF THE SLP EXHAUST AND YOU DONT NEED CUSTOM PARTS FOR IT TO WORK. You dont need anything but it would be very quite with both the resonator and secondary cat.

3rd pic is over axle facing the rear behind the tire

4th is facing front of car showing over axle from opposite direction of pic 3

5th is end of exhaust. Although the last pic with the reflection makes it look like its sitting far from the bumper the clearances and fitment are flush are were not bad at all

Thanks for adding new pics that actually made the modified part more noticeable, it is greatly appreciate. *I looked the pics over quite well and didn't notice anything different from the picture you had laid out on the floor (or any of the others in your initial post) trying to find what was done so that I didn't have to jokingly ask for some better pics. I've book marked you user name and will never make an adverse comment/joke towards you again.*And thanks for posting up information on the exhaust I am going to get in the next couple of months.

And just a heads up, now I see the rusty pipe you replaced the stainless resonator with.

It runs good but I would recommend deleting the resonator not the muffler only because the resonator is actually only 2 inch on the inside but the muffler is actually 2.5. Thats only my taste because I wouldnt want the bottle neck in the system of the reduction of the exhaust size.

Lol ok I get your style im cool with it. I think I might have misunderstood your intentions. That is actually discoloration from the type of steel i used for piping. Its not actually rust believe it or not. Its the heat color change that you find in some different mixtures of steel. Believe it or not the car didnt even have 3k in those pics.

The muffler only will not actually change the sound as much as I thought but rather the resonator changes the sound more so. I was suprised by this. I am waiting for my DDM works test pipe and I will post more pics when I finish the set up exactly as I want. I had it straight pipe with an under car dump for about a week. Holy expensive massage chair is all I can say. I will never do an under car exhaust dump again lol. The drone was a nightmare. The review mirror vibrated constantly Like I had 800 watt subs in the car. I found out though after the install of the SLP exhaust I did not lose any power but rather found that I had a smoother power band. I wish I could show a video but it just kept messing up my MIC on my phone. Any ideas on how to record a vid without distortion???

I'm running the test pipe with the factory cat back, I didn't notice a noise change but it seems like it helped a little performance wise (probably placebo... But I'm also tuned). It looks like we will end up with the same set up except I will have to figure out a dumped tailpipe for my sedan, I'm looking at Pypes dumped tail pipes now, it comes with a pair of 2.5" stainless tips for about 30-35 bucks.

It looks like we will end up with the same set up except I will have to figure out a dumped tailpipe for my sedan, I'm looking at Pypes dumped tail pipes now, it comes with a pair of 2.5" stainless tips for about 30-35 bucks.

The only this with the sedan is you will need a longer tailpipe section. My girlfriends is the 1.8 sedan.
I thought about a side pipe but the only problem is there is the emergency brake lines. I would have had to make a custom heat guard and bracket. Try this web site for a few things if you like. I find there pre bent piping to be the best prices around.

I'd think you could find a shop to crush bend a 2.75" to a turndown tip.

Why would anyone want crush bent tubing?!lol I'm honestly going to probably just run with the muffler hanging and no tailpipe until I figure out what I'm going to do. Autozone might have a turn down that will work but who knows until I get a HB exhaust in a sedan.

I have both the sedan and the hatch let me know if you need any solutions for the exhaust i can at least test it here.

If you're bored....... You could let me know if a straight pipe dumped like the factory sedan will fall on the same horizontal plain as the factory tailpipe. I want the exhuast to look almost factory when I'm done with it. I'm pretty much sure it will, I might just have to cut the dumped pipe long and cut it back to where I like it. It sound be hard to just look where the SLP muffler outlet is compared to the sedans 2 1/4" tailpipe section.

Because it's way cheaper, and 2.75" pipe being crush bent should bring it to 2.5" on the inside. Ish.

Yeah, I was joking, it is cheaper and gets you to the same place, it doesnt look clean at all to me though. Did you check out the MBS company jpierro linked in here? As long as shipping isn't ridiculous they are definately an option for mandrel bent pipe.
