Daytime Running Lights Not Working

Just bought my Sonic today and noticed the DRL are not working. Car was running and AUTO selected by the headlight dial.

It is not lit up on the instrument panel either as being on.

They did install foglights at the dealership, could they have messed something up?

When I push the knob the fogs come on and the parking lights come on and both symbols are lit on the panel as well.

Also, as evening approaches, and the lights are still on auto, will they turn on?

Personally, I never use the DRL's in the day...I turn the knob to the left almost on reflex now..

I have to double check that, but I know the foglights are on and another symbol on the dash when I click the foglights on.

Just picked it up today so I havent had the car when it was dark out yet so I will see.

Mine aren't always on full headlights. When it's bright out I have side markers but no headlights and can turn on my fogs. You can see an example of this in my pic thread. When it's overcast the DRLs will come on, but not full strength headlight, it's what you'd expect from a DRL. Finally they will switch to full on when needed.

Yeah its overcast here and I dont think they were on, there was nothing on the instrument panel to indicate they were on even though I see the icon, it was not lit up.

Ill have to do some more testing it when I get out of work. Sucks picking up a new car and driving it straight to work instead of playing with it for a bit.

Let us know brother. Most importantly, when it's dark...turn car on. If they light up, you're "legal"

But I need to see what my DRLs are during the day too! I just turn them off and never look.

OH, and when I had my Contour SE, there was a mod to make the fogs turn on without the headlights... that'd be a cool mod for here

I lied. Corners come on WITH the fogs. No DRLs at all when bright out. No symbol on dash.

And if I remember right, it was pretty dark overcast when they came on. I'll test it driving to work tonight.

Lamps on must be the DRL. I really haven't paid that much attention to the teeny things lol.

Hmm, maybe because it was bright out they werent on? I dunno Ill check it later and post what I find out.

Bright +overcast mine have not come on. I like that they are variable.

Got it figured out! I had the parking brake on and it has to be off. Thanks for the replies!

not to high jack but how do the high beams work on this car? it seems i have to hold the lever to keep the high beams on. every other car i had you pull it once to turn them on and pull it again to turn them off.

push it forward. pulling back just flashes them.

i'll have to try that, thanks. i guess i should read the manual, lol. i still have to try and sync my phone up and see what that's all about. is there a way to keep the traction/stability off? it seems to reset every time i start the car. same with the day time lights. if i don't want them on i have to turn them off after every start.

nope, you have to do it every start.
