I was told by a cop friend when you get the notice in the mail, DO NOT respond to it and absolutely DO NOT review it online or even log into it. That's how they know you even got it in the mail. Just throw the notice away like you never got it and they can't prove you got it.

Another way my family has done numerous times (successfully), if the car being driven is in a different persons name than the driver, have the owner attend court and simply say "this isn't me." If they ask who shrug and repeat "It's not me." They legally cannot ask you to tell them who someone is. Just say it's not you and they have to dismiss.

Good luck with this. A lot of states are throwing out the red light camera laws because it is hard to prove who was driving. I am guilty of having a speed light camera ticket. Which to this day I know I could have fought, I know for a fact I wasn't doing 44 in a 20 because I was at complete stop and making a left hand turn when it took my picture.

Yeah a lot of cities in cali are getting rid if them because it's more expensive to run them than they are bringing in. But they are very hefty when you do get them in the mail.

Mine was only $40. I would have lost more money sitting in court all day fighting it. I wasn't about to give up a day of work for $40.

in El Paso if you don't respond, you get a bench warrant. they have delivery confirmation and even if you refuse it, that counts. it's really unfortunate for us military guys that have the vehicle registered out of state and it goes to that address. luckily, it's only a $25 "donation" to a wounded police or firefighter foundation.

Hmm so my method only applies in California.

I'd give up a day to fight that as that's dangerously close to my paycheck. lol

Yeah we are doing very well. We just moved to SC, me from Washington DC and him from Las Vegas. We are excited to add a new Chevy to our family of cars.
