Default My 2012 Sonic radio turns "ON" by itself.

I see this problem posted on this forum and on Internet. I have never gotten a recall notice so I assume there is not one. I am taking my car for service next week. I need this car every day and have put this service call off as long as I can. This problem has turned into a nightmare. I hope the service department can fix it cheaply.

I have pulled the AUDIO fuse (killing radio and clock/date display) so this problem doesn't rear its ugly head and drain my battery again. I know it is not a major issue I just would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.

It seems even if the radio ON/OFF switch was defective radio should not come on when ignition switch is OFF and key removed form ignition and doors locked.

Only Problem I had with my Radio when i bought mine a few weeks ago was the AUX Jack...because the connection was loose then just gave me a New one.

I’ve been having this same issue! Twice now...
The first time this problem was happening was in 2014 and I had to pull the fuse, the dealer wanted $1200 for a new radio (this is a 2012 sonic) it was not under warranty becuse I drive a lot.

So I ended up getting a gm refurbished replacement from a local shop that takes it send it off to be repair from GM and then re installs it. (For $500)

Now the same exact issue is happening again and my main question is instead of having to get a radio fixed or replaced yet again is it possible to just buy the knob, does it easily pop out to switch out ?

It’s frustrating to not have any sound blinkers, radio and it also kills my on star.

The cd player in my 12 Sonic sounded like it was eating a cd the other day. Thought I was back in the 80s' all over again when my old Pionner noise maker ate my Looked What The Cat Dragged In tape. Only this time it was Guns and Roses....lol.
