diy intakes with stock tune

Who alls running a home made intake or modified intake on the stock tune? I'm planning something myself but I'm skeptical after hearing about throttle response and engine light issues. What works?
Pictures of your diy intake (stock tune or not) would be appreciated.

I am and I'm loving it ! Built a very sturdy mount for mine and have about 2k with my RNI with no issues ! Oh wait I lied, when I shift I hear this loud burst of air that's the only issue I have !!! Lol

Now just add this and get rid of the stupid accordion intake tube. This is with a K&N drop in and the bottom of the stock airbox cut out.

I agree with Eric. Cut up the bottom half of the air box but ******* up the lid will cost you 120+ to replace, so between my filter costing 65 bucks and chopping my lid its running my almost 200 bucks to get a stock lid back on. I could have saved the lid, not bought the filter and just got the DDM and came out on top. If all you plan on doing is the RNI and do not intend on getting an aftermarket intake down the road you're fine going this route. If I could do it again I would just cut the bottom of the box for the sound and wait for an intake.

IF you cut the rib the runs right under the tube as it connects to the box and leave enough of that tube left, you can use a silicone coupler and put it back to stock with just one screw.

I cut it long to give the filter as much MAF housing to hold onto as a could. Yeah, I could put it all back together but that defeats the purpose of the all mighty SAB!! I will just pick up the stock air box when I get back from deployment. Maybe I can find on on here the three months I'm gone. I still need to get some pics of my filter and modified MAF tube in the for sale threads and see if anyone would rather buy a ready made kit vs cutting up their own box.

When i get my intake I'll just end up placing the cutoff MAF tub on the SAB with the Silicone and call it a day. That extra room i left is the reason i used a portion of an old DIY intake from my toyota so it could have that extra pipe/volume prior to the MAF.
