Do I have to re-program the computer to replace speakers?

Hello,

I recently obtained a Sonic RS with a replaced engine and I hear it was a major PITA to program the board computer so the thing could even start and be in driving condition. But I've been told that, if I try to do anything to the car replacing any of the parts, including radio, camera or other parts, I will have to go to the dealership to get it re-programmed. Is that true??....

I was thinking of just replacing the factory speakers in the doors, without rewiring the car, just straight replacement, but I'm afraid I'll have to tow it to my local dealer afterwards....

When do I have to worry about re-programming the computer on the car??

For a stereo, no you don't have to program any computer for it.

Make sure you match the speakers to your HU, so 4ohm 6.5" speakers is what you need. It may sound worse than factory depending on what sensitivity of the new the speakers are. Worst case, buy a ~$100 4ch amp and use high level inputs from your HU and know the speakers have enough power.

Like the person before me said, install an amp. If you don't, you will notice almost no change to your music unless the speakers were blown and rattling. The stock HU is junk, but an amp and line output converter will fix that right quick.

I just replaced all 6 of my speakers with aftermarket brand name speakers, it made a huge difference in the sound, the volume did go up but not much.

The plan is to replace the HU with something that has a dedicated sub out so I can put the sub and amp in the trunk.

I had this installed in my truck and want to keep the touch screen HU otherwise I would use the Kenwood.

I just have two ds18 super tweeters and two skar 6.5 colossus components up front on a audio control lc4.800 and it screams. I'm just waiting till I got some money to build my doors

I ran my stock speakers for a little bit off that lc4.800 and it was pretty loud. Putting an on mids and highs is a game changer
