Door Speaker size?

I am looking to get rid of the poop stock speakers in my hatch sonic. Just curious if anyone knows off the top of their heads the size of the speakers. Im thinking 6.5 but I need clarification before I order.

Rockford was a quality manufacturer back when I cared about loud stereos. Since I haven't been in that scene for 10 years, I don't know if they are still good or not. Anyone with recent Rockford experience?

You're entitled to your opinion. However, if everyone posts their threads where they see fit, the forum would quickly be an unorganized wasteland and no help to anyone. Also, if it didn't matter where you post your threads, the forum would just be one giant "General Discussion" forum. It is divided up for a reason. If you really need to know the answer to question, call your dealership and ask them for assistance.

Plus he can always crack open his door panel and find out... Correct tool is available at Harbor Freight, Advanced, Autozone and most Pep Boys stores.

"Brandon80" - Ive been told they are either a 5-3/4th or 6-1/2 inch speaker. To me they appear to be a 6-1/2 inch. and if they are the 5-3/4ths size, many people make an adapter plate to upgrade to a 6-1/2 inch speaker. most of those are universal anyhow. I have a Sedan Sonic with the 6 speaker system. I doubt the hatchback is much different sound system wise.

Brandon80, your Sonic will take either 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 speakers! Go to Scosche Industries and order the GM 2006 and up speaker Adapters. This makes the install a breeze!opcorn:

If you are not installing an amplifier to power your new speakers you will want to make sure they are of the correct impedance and are rated with a high db sensitivity (92+).

Two models that I know fit the bill are the "Polk dB series" and a few lines of Infinity speakers.

Opticon, thanks for the heads up on the Polk's and their sensitivity. I think they call it efficiency on their tech specs, but the DXi 650s' I'm looking at have the 92dB. I will give them a try without an amp and go from there. I priced them out on Crutchfield and they sold them for msrp but they have free shipping and free adaptor rings.
