Driving without headlight/tail light trim?

I'm in the process of painting the chrome rings for my headlights and tail lights. All eight of the rings have been removed from the car.

I won't be able to finish this project by tomorrow and I need to get to work. Should I be worried about driving my car without this trim for a few days? It might rain on Tuesday...and there are gaps between the tail lights and the housing where water could theoretically enter through.

I don't think the rings create a seal to keep water out. Seems like it's there more for decoration. But I dkn that's just what I think.
