Good day to everyone! So I saw on Eastwood's website that they are now offering a "plastidip" like product called Elastiwrap. I figured since they recently opened a location south of chicago in Alsip I would give it a shot.
Went to the store and they have a wide variety of colors; red, black, green, white just to name a few. I went with the green machine.
The cost was 12.99 a can but lists online for 9.99, they gave me online price.
I decided to paint my engine cover.

So it began. Washed her up with soap and water, dried with cloth, waited a few and began painting.

First coat had good coverage. Sprayed nice out the can and was very even.

Waited 10 minutes and went to second coat, ten more and the third went on as pictured.

Once I got to the fifth coat the part was fully covered, put one more for six total just for measure.

Two coats of gloss clear and she was really purdy!!!
Overall the Elastiwrap seemed to spray just as well if not better than the plastidip from my experience.
Full coverage was achieved in five coats.
When I install the part tomorrow I will update with pics.

Glad you asked, I actually sprayed the tank I used to get the cover off the box I used.
On the one side I peeled the whole side off in one piece, and that was two hours after painting. I did use extra care actually trying to peel it in one piece. The other side is still on so in a few days I'll peel it off and give an update.

My next test is to spray it on my heat shield and see if it can really withstand the 350* they say it can.

I'm not sure it will do well on the heat shield. I'm interested to see what happens.

Well I put it on looks great, I'm goin to take a leap here and do the heatshield tomorrow or sunday will update when its done.

Lasted about a week I think the cycling of hot to cool did it in.
