engine and trans info

I was looking for info on the engine and found this presentation on the CRUZE on the cruze forum.

The engine info starts on page 25.
Hydraulic lash adjusters and cam chain

On page 33 it says 1st gear on the 6-spd is designed to 260 N-m (190 ft-lbs), so for tuned up motors, you could be pushing the limit

Should be easy to install the limited slip diff. Just pull the half axles, then remove the diff housing, replace the diff unit inside the big ring gear. Reassemble...

is that 190tq spec on the transmission itself or the clutch? i find it hard to beleive that the transmission can't handle that much torque.. even if thats true, it's always wise to limit boost in first gear on fwd cars for traction.

GM uses this transmission in their insignia and astra in the vauxhall line and its tied to a 2.0 turbo diesel that makes 350 Nm which is 258 ft/lbs of torque. I'm not horribly concerned with the transmission handling our retunes from trifecta.

I was wondering why the 1.8 doesnt get the same fuel mileage as the competitors.... no direct injection. None on the 1.4t either.

My orange hatch has only got 600 miles on it so far, this week, and mileage driving through town and rural roads is 31.4

its 25/35 city/highway so thats about right in numbers id assume after yer first 1k miles it should go up some.

Here are my numbers since I purchased. It is an LS 1.8 liter manual. These are actual numbers hand calculated. As most of you know the dash is always off a little. I drive about 25 miles to work one way and the trip is mainly a back road country state route. My guess is I drive 35%city (starts and stops) and 65% highway (no stops). I do use a Scan Guage to monitor my driving instantly. I am finding there are sweet spots on the peddle when holding a speed. I never would have noticed it without the Scan Guage monitor.
