Engine ticking/rattling/squeaking

I have a 2014 Chevy sonic 1.8l with close to 145,000 miles. It’s recently stated making this ticking/rattling noise and has since gotten louder. It sounds like something’s loose. It sounds like it closer to the timing belt/ chain area. It only happens at idle, when receding higher into the rpm’s it goes away. Any help or ideas as to what it might be is appreciated.

I would first start with cleaning that engine bay so that you can see whats happening. Your engine is also rocking forwards and backwards which means that its idling quite rough, with that mileage on your car, its hard to determine what it could be from that short video.

The squeaking sounds like a belt or bad pulley. Your car uses a timing belt, when last was that changed?

Definitely a bad pulley on the ac compressor, could be a water pump pulley and/or the serpentine belt is shot.

Agree. . .. worn noisy water pump, the belt, etc.

Have you ever had the timing belt and idler pulley replaced?
