Are you sure it's not 82? That would just be an oil change. Not sure what 52 is...

So, here's something interesting. If you look at the pic above, you'll see that an icon with a book is there, with an "i" on the right side. This is different from a maintenance icon, which is a car with a wrench, as seen below. Now, I've tried to find that other book image in the manual, but I can't find it anywhere.

I have no idea what this code is. However, if it's an ECM fault, the solution might be to unplug the battery, let the car sit for an hour, and then plug it back in.
Not from experience, just because there's a 50% chance that this is the solution to any computer problem, and is free and harmless, so it should always be tried first.
Kudos though for finding an error code none of us have yet reported on the Sonic!

So, how do we feel about Autozone's free engine status check? Are they fairly accurate? I took it to one, and they reported no issues at all. Now I'm even more perplexed.
So, in a brief spurt of post-coffee clarity, I once again went through the owner's manual. And sure enough, 5-25 shows 52 as "Change timing belt". Now, my question is this. I had to have my engine replaced about 15k miles ago. My odometer is at about 103.5k. Is this an automatic message(like the oil life indicator), or is the car actually sensing that it does need to be replaced? I should still be fine with just clearing this, right?

Did you ever find a solution for this? I just changed my timing belt and i'm trying to clear this code

It has to be a set interval code. No way this thing has a belt sensor. I suppose the car would throw other codes if timing was off.
Although we could test a new belt vs a used belt and measure the temperature differences with one of these guys:
