exhaust tip

After test fitting several different tips, I settled on the Alpena #15051. It is a chrome 2.25" in 3.5" out. It came with a worm gear clamp to secure, but I used a common 2.5" u-bolt stainless clamp instead. The tip fit secure enough on the tailpipe that a clamp was almost unnecessary due to the bend, and a mallet was used to seat it fully in against the muffler body. Please excuse the filth.

I've got the exhaust tip from the Chevrolet Kalos!

It's the same rounding as the rear bumper and fits great!

and it's OEM chevrolet Kalos

I was looking at that tip also, but was concerned that it might only fit the 1.8 exhaust system. The diameter of our 1.4 exhaust outlet is much larger. Just a heads up before you order.

Crap, I figured the diameter would be the same. I'm sure my parents have already ordered it. Oh well, if it doesn't fit I'll have to sell it to a 1.8L owner.

Stainless exhaust tip

Here is an exhaust tip that I recently added to my Sonic turbo. It is marketed by Superior Automotive; Super Gear SS, 304 stainless steel, mirror polished. It has a 3" outlet, slant cut, rolled end. Part # 28-9220

It fits well and looks nice. It is sold at Farm and Fleet. Here is a link.

That looks very nice Papasonic! The fourth picture, the rear view, makes your Sonic look like a widebody for some reason. Also it makes your tires look really wide, even though they are the stock wheels and tires.

Thanks for the compliment. I think GM is missing out on some OEM accessory sales by not having something as simple as an exhaust tip. You know they would msrp for $100.00 ; and would sell quite a few of them!

I just wanna mention i dont think the sedan has the same cut out near the exhaust on the rear bumper so take that into consideration for an exhause tip

There is a slight radius cutout in the sedans rear valance; here are a couple of pics. I have added a stainless steel turndown tip to ours. I'm not sure if the turbo sedan will have a different rear valance to accomodate the larger diameter exhaust.

I purchased the tip from our local Farm & Fleet store. (See post #10 of this thread) The vendor is Superior Automotive products, and this store doesn't sell this product online; I don't know another source to obtain their products.

The tip originally had three threaded fasteners to clamp to the tail pipe, but for this application, I cut that section of the tip off, and because of it's dimensions, I was able to press fit the tip in place. (Block of wood and hammer)

The things to look for when purchasing one of these is first; make sure it is stainless steel, and it's dimensions will allow it to fit over the existing tail pipe; and whether you want a clamp on or welded connection. An internet search will provide many sources of similar products.

Mine cost about $18.00

Just picked up my new LTZ Hatchback, 1.4 with 6 speed. Really needs an exhaust tip to finish off the look. I will be visiting Farm and Fleet tomorrow to get one. Thanks for the "tip". lol
