External crashbar/ LED light bar build

I had a client I built a grill for contact me about a project he wanted to somehow get made. After a couple versions hes finally narrowed it down to this style.

Final rendering:

22" curved LED Light bar, print for uprights, 4 sticks of 3/4" CRS tube

Upright pieces all cut and ground

I appreciate the compliments. Should be rolling the crossbars tonight and hopefully getting them welded into place. Still have a little bit of grinding on the uprights to get them perfect.

Got some more work in over the weekend between snowfalls. This will mount to the (2) 8mm bolts that also hold the undercarriage cover. I didn't get all the curved crossbars and light bar brackets welded in yet but should have it wrapped up by the end of the week.

Got it all mocked up this weekend. Decided to change the mounting location as the curved light bar mount weren't parallel, I needed to make an angled mounting plate. Finishing her off this weekend with a little mesh and then off to powder coat.

She was mounted a little low and a couple scrapes, adjusted the spacers and its almost right where I want it.

My stuff isn't meant to please everybody, but it'll definitely make you do a double take!

Have you considered one of those upper windshield mounts that are so popular with the offroading community these days? I feel like it might almost fit with the lines of the Sonic... especially if you got a curved light bar.

Out of curiosity, is your client trying to make a Sonic cop car? I would love to see a black Sonic on the freeway with a bash bar like this and CB antennas. Imagine if people actually started slowing down around the car!

All you really need is the Sedan version of the car, a bit of window tinting, black steelies with chrome hubcaps, and rebadge the car with the 'police interceptor' badge from a Ford Taurus.

I've thought about it but there's nothing really good to mount to up near the top of the windshield. I haven't done much research on how those do mount.

The client isn't on SOF but is just finishing up a big turbo build on his sonic. I've already built him a grill a couple years ago. I'll be sure to get pics of his car when I go down and install it.
