Time for an update ...
After driving on this for a while .. there are a couple of things to note. After a few miles, let's say around a couple of hours straight driving, especially hard driving around 80-90 the catch can will fill up. After it fills up there will be a steady stream of oil smoke from the exhaust, only at idle. I'm not real sure why this happens, but I can only assume it's from increased crank case pressure from the catch can being FULL!
With that being said ..
THIS is the catch can I used. I did fill it with some
STEEL WOOL though.
The theory here is to have a substrate to catch the condensate (smoke) to turn it back into liquid. That being said I had to make a trip to the local hardware store to find a piece of poly tubing to fit into the inside of one of the fittings to force the incoming vapor down into the catch can so that it has to go through the steel wool. I also did not use the hose that came with the catch can. Instead I used some rubber line. It was either some fuel line or vacuum line .. I forget.
I will say .. this is not a maintenance free modification, but it will for sure catch the vapor coming from the crankcase ventilation.
