I apologize for not keeping the thread updated. Since we have gotten to Alaska, it has been go time to unpack and get settled.
We made it without any major issues to the vehicles. I have all my fuel reciepts to add up and check my average mpg and total gallons used.
The major issues encountered are with the hitch and the trailer door. The hitch issue with the exhaust rubbing and knocking it off the hanger although is not a large issue, shows that it does not fit the RS trim correctly and I am in pursuit of a refund from uhual.
We also ran into an issue with the uhual trailer door not sealing correctly because the hinge was broke amd a lot of our stuff got wet. So far the only major damaged thing has been our mattress as it was soaked through. Still unpacking so not sure what else has been ruined.
Overall, I was exremely impressed with the Sonic's ability to tow a trailer with a roof rack and packed full. I am sure I bypassed every rating that was set for the car on this trip but it handled it all and gave me decent mileage! I wouldnt recommend doing something like this to anyone unless you have had previous experience towing trailers and know how to drive delicately.
