Hey man, the grills look amazing. Just sent you a PM. I really want one of these grills. Great work!!!!
Agreed, both the sedan and hatch are begging for a rear diffuser to break up the rear bumpers.
Lots of things in the works for spring:
- Will be molding my grill trim and tabs for non-RS sonics in the coming weeks
- Spoon spoiler build for the hatch
- Rear diffuser
- Rally style window vents
I wish I had a clone to get more done faster.....
Hey Beastlick, I have a question, is it possible to fabricate a single piece grille kind a like the ones that the Audi's have or even the new Hyundai's? This would require a modification to the front bumper of the Chevy Sonic where the horizontal piece were the Chevy logo is mounted would have to be cut off in order to fit a one piece grille. Really, I don't doubt your skills at all. I know that, out of all people out there, you could make this happen. But, I guess what I'm really asking is if you would be willing to try this challenge out. I know how to do a little bit of bodywork but I wouldn't have the guts to cut that horizontal piece that divides the two grilles if I didn't have a one piece grille to fit in there.
This look for the front grill is what I'm referring too...

Its very possible. I believe SonicR did a full 1 piece grill a couple years back but the execution was a little less than desirable. I've thought about it myself but haven't taken the leap.
If you really want one, I'd suggest buying a used or re-manufactured bumper. I can take care of the construction if you'd like but would need the bumper for a few weeks to "figure out" the in between.

That is awesome. If you don't mind doing this, as soon as I get my hands on a new bumper cover, I'll contact you so that I can send it to you. Once I send it to you, I wont put a time frame on it because I know this could be a bit of a challenge to pull off. I can also imagine that you are a busy man considering that you are a one man army when it comes to your business. I have no doubt at all that you can do this, that's why I kinda knew that I could approach you with this question/request. Thank you so much Beastlick, I'll PM you once I have the bumper.
Beastlick, I don't mind having to loose that line if it's necessary. If that's what it takes to make it work, then it is what it is. I should have a bumper cover I can send you in a couple of weeks. I do have one question though. Do you think it would make a difference what kind of bumper I send you? I know that the LTZ and the RS have different bumpers but I'm not sure if those two bumpers have a big difference in the way the grille is oriented. It seems to me like the bottom half of the grille in the non RS sticks out a little further.Sounds good! I'm always up for a challenge. Also start thinking about what kind grill features you'd like. Compile a folder of large single piece grills you've seen. Keep in mind we do have that creased body line that goes right through the bow-tie. We may need to get rid of it the whole way across, but I'd rather not have to if possible.
Yeah, I kind of figured that. I did notice that the front bumper in the Transformers car is a completely different bumpers than what the real Chevy Sonic has. I just wanted to point out the way that the grille looks and how it kinda resembles what I would like to have done to my front bumper except for the bar that divides the grille. And yes, I see what you mean about the line but I'm okay with that.Either way will work. Non-RS is probably cheaper and easier to find. The bumper they did on the transformer car is completely 1 off. It looks extended in the front as that body line I mentioned is gone.
