Just got through that mess of getting into the forum - Just complaining.
As a past personal mechanic to a guy with car collection, I have joined many a forum, and this one has the worst sign in process. I realize its staying one ahead of spam, but ugh.

Ok, we rented a Sonic for a weekend, was a LT and it ran pretty well. We had 2 and luggage, hit some small mountains East of Seattle and it pulled through ok with the 1.8 / auto but did rev up high. Fuel MPG was fairly good but we were not trying hard.

I also drove to a trail head for hiking and was impressed at how the little car ate up the potholes. The steering was good and handled well - just a bit skittish feeling - such a short wheelbase.

Anyway, researched them a bit and now that I have a long commute on my job, I'm looking at buying one.

Yes the sign in process is long, and you have to do the "stupid 10 posts" but it is here for a reason. Newer members would not understand the spam problem this forum had before.

If you can afford it, get the 1.4 turbo. It feels much better when you're doing highway driving.

I just bought one - on EBay!! LOL. A 2012 LTZ, 1.4 MT hatch. Its pretty neat looking. Has the more conventional radio. I am not against technology but after reading about the intellink radio while its pretty cool I think I'll be happier with the more conventional setup and my phone to plug into it. I'd like to have the rear disk brakes, but I may convert them later if it really bugs me, but those antiquated drums seem to work well enough for now.

I'm going to use it to go to work, which is 40 miles each way. I figure I"ll save enough on gas to cover depreciation and insurance, while greatly reducing the miles on my road-trip minivan for those family excursions. I already have 120 on it, don't need to pile miles on it.

Can't wait for the car to be delivered. Its out of state.
