Glove box falls open

I'm happy with my '12 1.4t MT hatch, but the glove box has started falling open. It closes perfectly and the door is aligned in the opening it looks like, but is there a common fix for this? I did search before posting and only found 1 mention of this but no discussion. I'll put fix here on this thread, but hoping someone already had figured it out.

Same exact thing with my '12 Sonic. Did that since new. Until I figured this out, my glove box would pop open occasionally. Now when I close it, I just give it a firm push right by the latch, as the previous poster mentioned. It gives an audible click and latches it securely.

Great, that's an easy "fix". I may see if there's a way to adjust the catch a little outward maybe.

Been searching the forums for anything that was glove box, little glove box, upper glove box, aftermarket USB and glove compartment disassembly and this is the best thread so far with any direction to my issue:

I would like to install this double USB port I eBay 'd to go in the blank square where the port is on the more expensive models and where there is plenty of the back dash to do this and make more use of the little notch and wire path they were so kind enough to include. Folks, I want to pick up where they left off. What I need to know is how and where to make cuts, run wire. What type of wire and where does it go? Where does the wire end up on the head unit /or/ do I connect it to just something that leads to the battery like an impromptu cig lighter but that I would like reserved as a complete last resort. Thank you!

What kind of car mine is (its in my garage) '12 Sonic HB (5 door) LT 1.8 na. The kind that comes with the floodlights in the bottom front bumper but no cruise control or USB (one thing at a time, right?).

I don't know if this is a fix, but it worked for me....

I had a water issue on the passenger side, so when ONE dealer tried to fix it (three times) They would have to remove the glove box to look up into the back of the dash as well as remove a filter in there. Well, when they put it back together, that's when I started having my glove box randomly pop open.

I ended up emptying the glove box myself, removing the rubber thing on the side and letting it drop all the way to remove the whole glove box. Then I put it back on in reverse order.

1. Make sure filter clips are closed correctly, holding in filter.
2. Re-install/Re-seat glove box.
3. Attach rubber holder on right side.
4. Close it.

It seemed re-seating it helped because it hasn't happened to me again since.
