I would guess stock, as the secondary is still there to be removed.

I have a question though. What's the difference between the first, and second cat, and what difference (other than sound and emissions) would removing one, the other or both make?

I can understand decreasing back pressure, to pull back on the force exerted on the pistons while on the exhaust stroke. But wouldn't that only be a factor for cars with a much larger cylinder capacity? like, a 2.3 I4, as compared to say a 1.4 I4...

Please pardon my ignorance. I'm an Electronic Engineer, which only gets me so far when applied to mechanics.

The first cat is built in to the downpipe. The second cat is in the mid pipe; easier to remove.

Helping an engine breathe better, inhaling through the intake and exhaling through the exhaust, almost always results in increased power.

And both cats are the platinum honeycomb situation? I mean, they both work the same way, and do the same thing... so, redundancy? I think I like that.

So removing the second cat would increase back flow, assuming that the second cat was the bottleneck.

There are two just to make it that much cleaner. And really, really quiet; also restrictive.

Also, I don't know of the cat composition. I haven't taken it apart, although I suppose I could. the stock downpipe is in my garage.

Sounds pretty good there. Listening on my computer it doesnt sound like much of a difference between the 2 videos before and after. A slightly deeper growl at most. Could you do a few drive by videos or videos of you driving to hear how it sounds in motion. What muffler you running?

im running a 3a racing muffler from pepboys. its bigger than the other fart cans that are their. ill do those vids tomorrow

I like that you had the sack to cut up the bumper to make the muffler/tip look right but it's a little to "Hond@" for me. But, in the end! You're happy and that is all that matters.

Cool, look forward to seeing them. Im waiting til next spring to get my exhaust done when i get my tax return back. That way i can have the local muffler shop fab up for me a nice cat-back exhaust with the setup ive bought. Have it listed and pictures in my build thread. But with your video i have an idea of how an 1.8 sounds with an exhaust now. most vids online are all 1.4 exhausts.
